Real Estate Managers have reacted to this by offering original office ideas, which lessen space use or decrease moving costs. This increased flexibility, which assists the new Internet Business model ( a model in which production is not necessarily related to the location of an individual) is idea for homeworkers. However more is required than just new office dividing concepts. The current developments require a new approach on the way that the company connects with its environment.
In contemporary management thinking, importance is attributed to the amount of independence an employee is given. In the internet business model, where a large number of employees have online jobs, some or all of them will Work From Home. This becomes obvious in offering different work places, from which an employee may carry out there tasks. A work station should at the very least be good in providing what it is supposed to. In the case of those employees who decide to work from home then the work place also doubles as a residence, with the usual needs that brings, such as guest accommodation, storage problems etc. Interestingly more and more organisations are finding that employees with online jobs who elect to Work From Home already have most of the facilities and spaces on offer as they simply fit in around existing needs.
The usual domestic dwelling has, in most cases, places that are acceptable for focused work, screen based or otherwise which are of course required for Online Jobs. They are also fit for relaxation and contemplation which is without reservation one of the key necessities for knowledge workers whether they work from home or in an office. The home selection can often beat the office in these terms as, particularlyduring the day, home can provide uninterrupted space.
